Custom words with photos: make learning personal

Children learn faster when words reflect their world. Tips to keep photos on-device and make practice fun.

Generic pictures are a good start, but “dad”, “grandma”, or a favorite stuffed animal often work better. In TWIYO’s parent panel you can add custom words with a photo and sound.

All photos stay on the device — they are not uploaded to the cloud. That is intentional for privacy: your family images remain yours.

Start with five to ten words your child sees daily. Practice briefly and positively: let your child point to the picture, say the word aloud, and celebrate a good try.

In games and the AAC board, custom words appear alongside built-in sets. Premium removes the word limit; the free tier has a fair cap so you can try first.
