I am Jolanda, a mom of 4 wonderful kids, together with my husband for 25 years. Our eldest son is non-verbal and autistic. During our search for the right support, I noticed there were surprisingly few affordable tools available for families like ours. That feeling of "there must be more out there" never left me.
Our son is completely non-verbal, but that doesn't mean he doesn't understand language — quite the opposite! By letting him play an app that matches spoken words to images, we saw just how much he understands. He gets them right every time. For us, that was proof of how much more there is inside him.
That's how the idea for TWIYO was born: first for our son, and now for everyone who cannot or struggles to speak — regardless of cause. The apps we found were often expensive or lacked the options we needed. I wanted an app where you choose the images yourself — an app that grows with the user. My dream is to not only help our own family, but to offer others a helping hand too.
